SMAC Fells

Here you can find out a little bit about the fell races that Staffs Moorlands Athlectics members intend to run this year.  I have decided to put it on my blog as temporary post until the new website for the club is up and running.

Am trying to sort out the Fells this year with Martin Dearden, we will be organising the Fell Relays on the 17th October and also trying to get people to turn out to other local fell races to help with team prizes and get the clubs name out there. Last year myself, Gareth, Craig and Martin went to Wasedale and won the team prize. So let's keep this going.

If you want to contact me, please email me on info@davidbethell.com

So the new FRA handbook calendar is now out, it helps you pick races specific to a date. If you dont have one, I have a copy for people to look at. However I recommend that you get one yourself by joining the FRA.

So the English Championship race this year are as follows:

Short:  Flower Scar on the 7th March (this is a AS)  but there is now a waiting list to get into the race. So this has already sold out.  I know Ant, Craig, Martin, Gareth, Seamus are all doing this. I hope to get a last minute entry.

There is also Lingmell Dash, which is on the 25th July. This is a harder short race.

Medium: Stretton Six Summits 9th of May, (this is now open to entries), This is in Church Stretton show its close to us.  Ant and myself are down for this, though I have to leave early for my preview show.

And the other race is Guisborough on the 6th of September

Long: The long races are Duddon, 30th May, and Bradda Niarbyl.   Ant is decided to enter Duddon

The Calder Valley clubs website, has a good list of all the races and links.

If anyone did get into the Flower Scar race and doesn't want to run, please can you let me know as I didn't get my entry in on time. Am currently on the waiting list. I would pay alot of money to be in this race.

The next Fell races, I will be doing after Flower Scar if I get in will be Wolfs Pitt on the 22nd of March and Lads leap on the 29th of March.

Here are the races for the club championship and the cross country races that are left in the birmingham league :

The next race is the knype pool race on the 22nd of Feb that is part of the club championship.
